User Comments on Works Performance Shocks
"Around 50K we replaced the stock EV shocks with Works. WOW! I don't like to report on anything unless I've ridden further than the county line. What a difference, not only in the ride but especially in the handling when you hit bumps in a corner. We've had the shocks on for 75K. It is the best money that Peggy could've spent. I wasn't too happy about waiting 10 weeks to get them, but the wait was worth it."

"After a lot of debate over Progressive 412's, 418's, 440's and Works Performance, I went for the Works custom application. I did ride on a bike with new 440's and found they thumped at every crack in the road.  Not a harsh feeling but they did verbally tell you every bump they went over.  Switching back to my Bassa I found the same cracks went unannounced and unfelt.
One word of caution when ordering Works shocks.  The stock shock is 13.5" with 2.5" between the cylinder and the rubber stop.  I specified I wanted 3" clearance and verified I had the wheel travel to handle it.  I did not check when they arrived but after bottoming out fully loaded two up with gear I checked and found only 2" of travel vs the 3" requested.  They took care of it no problem and I ended up with 2.85++ of travel.
They key to a smooth ride over bumps is travel.  The bike when sat on by myself (stock shock or Works) had a "sag" (drop from full extension) of 1" and with a rider it goes to 1.75".  With 2.5" of travel with the stock shock this leaves you with a whole .75" of compression travel!!!!
The shocks do ride very comfortable.  I specified dual rate springs, which can be further tailored to your taste by adding or removing the rings that determine how far, the soft spring compresses and the heavier spring takes over."
