Some 02 and later Cal/EV's have been reported to have bubbling paint or clear coat around the filler cap. Recommended (dealer) fix is:
- Remove the filler cap and all parts of the mounting flange.
- Using a razor knife, cut a circle just inside the 5 holes for the flange screws.
- The paint (for those exibiting early-to-full stages of damage) should be able to be removed without difficulty.
- Re-install the gas filler cap.
