My 99 Bassa is a great bike, but ever since new the fuel injection never seemed to be set up right.  It would cough and spit at lower rpms when not applying a solid dose of throttle.  In an effort to get more power, I added a few hop-ups, Mistral exhaust and crossover, and Amsoil foam filter with the air box drilled out.  All this made it seem faster although by the seat of ones pants it's tough to know for sure.
After the mods, the popping and farting became worse, so I got a Power Commander with a stock map.  Had it plugged in and mounted in less than 15 minutes, a monkey could do it, really! Took it out on the road and WOW! Like night and day.  No more stumbling, much better ride-ability.  I then downloaded one of the maps from GuzziTech, which was tuned on a bike with very similar mods as mine. This time I just had to richen the low end with the buttons 4 degrees. (very easy to do even if you may have know idea what I am talking about).  The bike ran just as well at the low end then, but the mid and high range was altered, as in and altered beast!  Where it would start to accelerate like a turbo at 5,000 rpm before, now the power comes on about 4,000 rpm!  And it keeps pulling too!  Top gear speed has increased as well.  Prior to the PC it did not want to go much over 110.  I would have to try and get the revs up in fourth.  Now it continues to pull even in 5th!  The rush of power was still coming on in 5th gear over 115, but the last two times I tried to find out the top speed I ran out of road just before I could cross 120!   This is while pushing a windshield, and carrying 6'-5", 255 lb. person!

The PC is the single best bang for the buck.  When setup with the right map for your bike, it allows your bike to be at its best!  My thanks go out to Todd & Nick / GuzziTech for doing most of the grunt work for me!
