Anyone wanting to install the newer style flat end chrome side stand to their California model needs only one or two items. The newer style flat end chrome side stand is under Moto Guzzi part number 03432070 and retails for a very respectable $94.00. The new side stand is just over 1mm larger in diameter in the stand shaft as well as the mounting shaft. Therefore the existing side stand bracket won't allow the new side stand to be used. The new side stand bracket is under Moto Guzzi part number 03433470 and only retails for $21.60. You can easily tell the two side stand brackets apart in that the newer one is slightly larger and flared out at the bottom where the side stand mounting shaft goes into it. It's really easy to tell if your existing bracket is flared out at the bottom or not. If not and you want to mount the new chrome side stand, simply get the new bracket. It bolts on exactly the same as the older one using the same mounting bolts.
The new side stand really looks nice on my Bassa. It adds a nice touch to an already good looking bike.
